Aang and his friends continue their search for a firebending teacher, and are directed to a man named Jeong Jeong who is said to be a skilled and powerful firebender. However, when they find Jeong Jeong, he refuses to teach Aang as he believes that firebending is too dangerous for anyone other than the Fire Nation to use.
Aang is disappointed, but he refuses to give up and tries to convince Jeong Jeong to teach him anyway. Meanwhile, Prince Zuko is still hot on the trail of the Avatar and his crew, and enlists the help of a skilled and ruthless bounty hunter named June to track them down.
As Aang continues to try and persuade Jeong Jeong to teach him, he begins to learn more about the history of firebending and the devastating destruction it can cause. Jeong Jeong tells him about the Fire Nation's atrocities and the way firebending has been used as a weapon of war for centuries.
Realizing that he must learn to use firebending responsibly and with respect for its power, Aang convinces Jeong Jeong to train him. Jeong Jeong puts Aang through a grueling series of exercises and drills to teach him how to control and master the flames.
At the same time, Prince Zuko and June close in on the Avatar's location, and Aang and his friends must fight to defend themselves against their attackers. Aang's new firebending skills come in handy, but it's clear that they're outnumbered and outmatched.
