Auf Wiedersehen Pet was a British comedy-drama television series that aired on ITV from 1983 to 2004. The show followed the lives of seven British construction workers who travel to Germany in search of work during the economic downturn in the United Kingdom in the early 1980s. The show starred Tim Healy and Kevin Whately as two of the main characters, along with a talented supporting cast.

The show starts with the seven main characters meeting in a German town called Dusseldorf where they are all staying in a run-down hut. The characters come from different parts of the UK and have different personalities and backgrounds. The characters are Oz (Jimmy Nail), a no-nonsense electrician from Newcastle; Dennis Patterson (Tim Healy), a carefree bricklayer from Bristol; Neville Hope (Kevin Whately), a mild-mannered joiner from the North-East; Wayne Norris (Gary Holton), a cockney plasterer; Barry Taylor (Timothy Spall), a naive plumber; Moxey (Christopher Fairbank), a paranoid painter and decorator, and Bomber Busbridge (Pat Roach), a rugby-playing hod carrier from Birmingham.

As the series progresses, the construction workers are faced with a number of challenges as they try to navigate their way through life in Germany. The workers find themselves dealing with cultural differences, language barriers, and difficult working conditions. Despite these challenges, the workers form strong bonds with each other as they work towards a common goal.

Throughout the series, the characters find themselves in a number of humorous and often dangerous situations. They are often faced with challenges that threaten to break their bond and force them to go their separate ways. However, they manage to stick together through thick and thin, proving that their friendship is the strongest thing they have.

The show was a critical success and won numerous awards during its run. Many people credit the show for breaking down cultural stereotypes and showcasing the working-class culture of the UK in a positive light. It was also one of the first shows to tackle issues such as unemployment and economic decline in the UK.

The show became so popular that it inspired two spin-off series, as well as a number of live tours and a feature film. The show is still highly regarded today and is often called one of the best British comedies of all time.
