Ask the Storybots is an educational children's show that follows the adventures of five bright, yellow, animated creatures who are on a mission to answer some of the biggest questions that children might ask. In season 1, episode 1, the Storybots explore the question: How Does Night Happen?

The episode begins with the Storybots receiving a question from a little boy named Zachary who wants to know why it gets dark at night. The Storybots set off in their spaceship to the planet Earth to help Zachary get his answer.

Upon arriving on planet Earth, the Storybots are greeted by their friend Beep, a humanoid robot who helps them navigate the terrain. Along the way, they encounter various animals like bats and owls who only come out at night. They quickly realize that the animals' behavior is related to the day/night cycle.

To further explore the question, the Storybots land on a beach and begin to experiment with light and shadow. They set up a light source and different objects in front of it to see what happens when they block the light. They realize that when an object blocks the sun's light, it creates a shadow. They also notice that as the sun moves across the sky, the shadow changes in length and position.

The Storybots then take a trip to a nearby planetarium where they meet Dr. Melinda, an astronomer who explains that the rotation of the Earth on its axis causes day and night. She demonstrates this by using a flashlight and a globe to show how the part of the globe that is facing the sun experiences day while the part that is not facing the sun experiences night.

The Storybots then return to Earth and visit a farm where they encounter a rooster who crows at sunrise. This prompts the Storybots to wonder if the rooster knows when the sun is going to come up. They then learn that animals have an internal clock that helps them know when it's time to eat, sleep, and wake up.

Finally, the Storybots head back to their spaceship and say goodbye to Beep. They then return to Zachary's house where they explain that the Earth rotates on its axis and that's what causes day and night. They also teach Zachary about shadows and how they are formed when an object blocks the sun's light.

Overall, this episode of Ask the Storybots is a fun and engaging way for children to learn about the science behind day and night. The combination of animation, live-action footage, and educational content make it a great choice for parents and educators looking to teach their kids about science in an entertaining way.
