Ash vs Evil Dead season 2 episode 9, "Home Again," continues the high-octane horror-comedy action that fans of the show have come to expect. In this episode, Ash (Bruce Campbell) returns to his hometown of Elk Grove in an attempt to lay his past to rest once and for all. But, as we know from previous seasons, nothing is ever that simple when it comes to Ash Williams.
Upon arriving in Elk Grove, Ash finds that things have changed quite a bit since he left. For one, the town now has its own mascot called the Elk Grove Mascot, which is essentially a man in an elk costume. Additionally, the town has had a surge of new residents moving in, bringing with them new businesses and new attitudes.
As Ash tries to navigate through this new version of his hometown, he is reminded of the pain and trauma that led him to leave in the first place. Memories of his father and his sister come flooding back, and he discovers that they have left behind a house that is in dire need of some TLC. In order to honor his family's memory and put his own demons to rest, Ash decides to take on the task of fixing up the house.
What Ash doesn't realize, however, is that the house is haunted by some familiar friends - the Deadites. These evil spirits prove to be even more challenging than the regular house repairs, as they continue to wreak havoc on Ash and his crew.
Despite their best efforts, the Deadites refuse to leave the house. In fact, they seem to be getting stronger every day. Ash and his team quickly realize that they need to find a way to exorcise the spirits before it's too late.
As they delve deeper into the history of the house, they discover that it holds a dark secret - one that connects back to Ash's past in more ways than one. Through a series of flashbacks, we see how the Williams family was affected by the Deadites even before Ash ever encountered them.
With this knowledge, Ash is able to devise a plan to banish the spirits once and for all. However, it's not as simple as just saying some Latin phrases and waving a few herbs around. This time, Ash must face some of his deepest fears and confront the demons within himself in order to defeat the demons in the house.
"Home Again" is a thrilling, high-stakes episode that explores Ash's past in a poignant and satisfying way. The horror elements are top-notch as always, with plenty of gory and gruesome scenes to satisfy even the most hardcore horror fans. And, of course, the one-liners and comedic moments are just as sharp as ever, with Campbell delivering them with his trademark wit and charm.
Overall, "Home Again" is a standout episode in a season that is already full of great moments. It proves once again that Ash vs Evil Dead is one of the most unique and entertaining shows on television, and fans will be eagerly anticipating the next episode.
