Ash vs Evil Dead is a horror-comedy television series that premiered on Starz, a premium cable network. The series was created by Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi, and Tom Spezialy. It is a continuation of the Evil Dead film franchise, which follows the exploits of Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell), a chainsaw-wielding demon hunter. The show's second season premiered on October 2, 2016, and its second episode is titled "The Morgue."
The episode begins right where the previous one left off, with Ash and his fellow employees at the Value Stop store dealing with a Deadite infestation. After a tense showdown, Ash is able to vanquish the evil spirit and save the day. The employees are left reeling from the experience, but Ash brushes it off like it's just another Tuesday. However, he knows that the Deadites won't stop coming until he finds a way to stop them once and for all.
Meanwhile, Ruby (Lucy Lawless), the mysterious woman who has been helping Ash in his fight against the Deadites, is on a mission of her own. She has been searching for the Necronomicon, the ancient book of the dead that is responsible for all the evil that plagues Ash and his friends. It turns out that the book is in the possession of a coroner, who keeps it locked up in his morgue. Ruby enlists the help of Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) and Pablo (Ray Santiago) to break into the morgue and steal the book.
When they arrive at the morgue, they are confronted by the creepy coroner (played by guest star Ted Raimi, brother of the show's creator Sam Raimi). The coroner is suspicious of their intentions and tells them that they can't have the book. Ruby tries to reason with him, but when that fails, she uses her powers to knock him out. They find the Necronomicon and are about to leave when they are attacked by a Deadite. The creature is able to possess the coroner's body and launches a brutal attack on the trio.
Back at the Value Stop store, Ash is trying to convince his co-workers that they need to be prepared for another Deadite attack. Pablo is on board, but Kelly is skeptical. She thinks that Ash is just a crazy old man who is making things up. Ash takes matters into his own hands and decides to take the fight to the Deadites. He arms himself with his trusty chainsaw and shotgun and heads to the morgue to help Ruby, Kelly, and Pablo.
When Ash arrives at the morgue, he finds Ruby, Kelly, and Pablo fighting for their lives against the possessed coroner. Ash jumps into the fray and takes on the Deadite with all the skill and bravado we've come to expect from him. The fight is intense and bloody, but Ash and his friends are able to come out on top. They retrieve the Necronomicon and head back to Ash's trailer to figure out what to do next.
In the trailer, Ash, Ruby, Kelly, and Pablo begin the arduous task of deciphering the Necronomicon's spells and incantations. They discover that there is a way to banish the evil spirits once and for all, but it requires a sacrifice. Ruby tells them that they will need to go to an abandoned asylum to perform the ritual. Ash is hesitant, but Ruby assures him that it's the only way to end the Deadite threat once and for all.
As the episode comes to a close, Ash and his friends prepare to embark on their next mission. They know that the road ahead will be dangerous and fraught with peril, but they're ready to take on whatever the Deadites throw their way. The Morgue is a thrilling and action-packed episode that sets the stage for the rest of the season. Fans of the Evil Dead franchise won't want to miss it.
