Arthur, a well-known animated series in the United States, follows the daily adventures of an eight-year-old anthropomorphic aardvark, Arthur, his family, and friends. In season 4 episode 1, titled "D.W.'s Library Card / Arthur's Big Hit," there are two half-length episodes with its own unique plots.
In "D.W.'s Library Card," D.W. visits the Elwood City Library with her family. However, she is not allowed to check out any books as she does not have her library card yet. Frustrated, D.W. begs Arthur to check out books for her, but he refuses. She also tries to trick the librarian into letting her check out books without her library card, but she gets caught. Ultimately, D.W. learns the importance of being responsible and having her own library card.
In "Arthur's Big Hit," Arthur starts playing baseball with his friends and becomes obsessed with it. However, during practice, he accidentally hits a ball that injures his friend, Muffy. Arthur feels guilty and everyone starts to blame him for the accident. Meanwhile, Muffy's father considers suing Arthur's family for the damages, and Arthur feels extremely anxious and overwhelmed. Eventually, he learns the importance of taking responsibility for his actions, even if they were accidental.
Throughout both episodes, Arthur and his friends learn valuable lessons about responsibility and the consequences of their actions. As always, the episodes are full of humor and teachable moments, making them perfect for children and the young at heart.
