Mom and Dad Have A Great Big Fight/D.W.'s Perfect Wish is an episode from the popular children's animated series Arthur. In this episode, Arthur's parents get into a big argument which leaves their children feeling anxious and unsure about the stability of their family.
The episode begins with everyone in the Read family getting ready for a family outing to the amusement park. However, when Arthur's dad hits a bump in the driveway, his mom becomes angry and starts yelling at him. This leaves the children feeling uncomfortable, especially as the argument continues throughout their trip to the park.
At the park, the family splits up to go on different rides and attractions. Arthur's mom takes D.W. to a new ride called the "totally extreme pogo stick." Meanwhile, Arthur and his dad team up to play a carnival game where they try to win a giant stuffed bear. Despite their attempts, they aren't successful, which leads to more tension between them.
After the family returns home, the argument between Arthur's parents continues to escalate. This leaves Arthur feeling upset and unsure of what to do. He turns to his grandparents for advice, and they tell him that sometimes grown-ups argue but that it doesn't mean they don't still love each other.
Meanwhile, D.W. is convinced that she can make a wish that will stop her parents from fighting. She spends the episode searching for the perfect wish and even consults with her imaginary fairy godmother, who tells her that there is no such thing as a perfect wish.
Eventually, the tension between Arthur's parents comes to a head, and they decide to take a break from each other for a few days. This leaves the children feeling even more unsettled, but they come together to support each other and to try to find ways to make their parents feel better.
In the end, Arthur's parents reconcile, but not before showing their children that sometimes people have disagreements, but that they can work through them and come out stronger on the other side. This episode is a poignant reminder of the ups and downs of family life and the importance of communication and understanding.
