As Arthur and his friends embark on this TV-free journey, they find it difficult to disconnect from their favorite shows and cartoons. However, they quickly adapt and discover other activities that keep them entertained. For instance, Arthur takes up reading, which he quickly becomes engrossed in, while Buster turns to the radio and wishes that he could join a popular nighttime radio program to satisfy his craving for entertainment.

Meanwhile, Arthur's little sister, D.W., struggles to understand why they all are giving up TV and continuously tries to sneak in and watch her favorite shows. Arthur's parents support their kids and come up with plenty of fun activities, including playing board games, cooking, and enjoying time outside.

As they continue, Arthur and his friends begin to realize how much time and focus television can take up from their other hobbies and interests. They also begin to question the positive effects of watching TV and how it can impact their sleep and ability to connect with others. The episode concludes with the kids celebrating their newfound appreciation for a TV-free week and wondering if they could extend the challenge for another week.

As he talks to his friends, they suggest various remedies, and D.W. offers him some tough love in the form of a positive book about overcoming fear.

Arthur takes the advice and ends up coming up with his own creative solution to his nightmares. In the end, he learns that the only way to overcome his fear of the dark is to face it head-on.
