Arthur season 1 episode 6 "Locked in the Library! / Arthur Accused!" revolves around the story of Arthur and his friends getting locked in the library. The episode begins with Arthur and his friends visiting the library to choose books for their respective book reports. After they have made their selections and started reading, the librarian announces that the library is closing in 10 minutes.
Everyone panics and rushes to return their books, but they find that the door won't open. They are stuck inside the library the entire night. At first, they are having fun reading and listening to the radio, but eventually, they start to get worried and scared.
During their time in the library, they decide to investigate who might have locked them in. They suspect Francine, who left the library before everyone else, but she denies it. They then suspect George, who left before Francine, but he also denies it.
As the night wears on, the group becomes increasingly paranoid, and they start to suspect each other. When they hear strange noises, they are convinced that there is a ghost in the library. When they investigate, they find that the source of the noise was actually the janitor, who had been sleeping in the library.
The next day, the group is found safe and sound in the library, and they are relieved to be back with their families. However, when they return to school, they are accused of vandalism by the librarian. She shows them a book that was torn apart and says that it must have been them who did it.
The group is devastated and denies any involvement, but the librarian is convinced that they are lying. They face punishment and detention, which they feel is unfair. They gather together to clear their name and find out who really tore the book apart.
Through their investigation, they find that the real culprit was a little girl who had been hiding in the library during closing time. She had torn the book apart, and the group was able to prove it by finding a piece of the book in her backpack.
The group is exonerated, and the librarian apologizes. They all learn a lesson about jumping to conclusions and how important it is to look for evidence before making accusations. Arthur and his friends return to their normal lives, vowing never to get locked in the library again.
