Oliver Queen, aka the Green Arrow, is back in action in season 8 of the hit superhero drama Arrow. In episode 7, titled "Purgatory," Oliver finds himself stranded on Lian Yu, the island where he was marooned for five years and where he first became the Green Arrow.
The episode begins with Oliver waking up on Lian Yu, confused and disoriented. He soon realizes that he is not alone on the island - he is being hunted by a deadly new enemy, who seems to know his every move. Oliver must use all of his survival skills to evade his pursuer and make his way off the island alive.
As he treks through the jungle and battles his way through enemy fire, Oliver begins to have flashbacks to his time on Lian Yu during his first five years as the Green Arrow. He remembers the friends he made and the enemies he fought, and begins to wonder if he will ever be able to leave the island for good.
Meanwhile, back in Star City, Oliver's friends and family are dealing with their own crises. Team Arrow - consisting of Oliver's sister Thea, his friend John Diggle, and his former girlfriend Felicity Smoak - are struggling to keep Star City safe in Oliver's absence. They are also dealing with their own personal demons, as each team member grapples with their own pasts and their place in the world.
As the episode progresses, Oliver's flashbacks become more intense, and he begins to confront some of his deepest fears and regrets. He also begins to realize that his situation is not as random as he first thought, and that there may be a larger conspiracy at work.
Back in Star City, Team Arrow receives a distress signal from Oliver and sets out to rescue him. But when they arrive on the island, they find themselves in the middle of a dangerous battle, with Oliver's enemy closing in on them from all sides.
The final act of "Purgatory" is a thrilling, action-packed sequence in which Oliver and his friends battle their way off the island and back to Star City. Along the way, they confront their deepest fears and face some of their toughest challenges yet.
