After everything that has been going on the students get a lift after a pep talk from the project manager. Contentions arise when Adriana and Amarit don't see eye to eye on design issues. Last year's home sells. The project gets back on budget after with the resourcefulness of Alex and Casey. Finishing touches complete the house and the students finish on schedule.

The S.I.P.s (Structurally Insulated Panels) arrive so the construction can go on, these panels have $1/day energy costs they are fairly new with green technology. Byron demands that a major beam be taken down and rebuilt. Tension arises between the boys and the girls. Caroline is a new potential buyer who's interested in the house. Construction is over budget, building is behind schedule, one of the students purse is stolen from her car and an article about the project in a reputable architectural magazine rip apart the students design and their intentions.

During the month of February Mardi Gras rich color and debauchery are throughout the city. Last years house is struggling to sell due to neighborhood crime. Neighbors voice their concerns about crime and the lack of security in the new house design at the students community meeting. Amarit goes to Tulane's Urgent Care Center after having a construction accident. Tess' plan to get the house for her daughter is derailed when Michael Wong shows interest in the house. The state of New Orleans housing is the topic at a dinner party Lauren Anderson throws. Barack Obama visits Tulane.

Students Ian and Alex join the team during the first week of construction, Adriana missed the week of hard labor digging and arrives as the concrete for the foundation is poured, Tess is not happy with her daughters attempt to purchase last years house and the students find another buyer who loves the home but with a murder across the street the home sale is in jeopardy and the students are afraid for their safety.
