After the explosive events of the previous episode, Archer Season 5 Episode 10 sees ISIS pulling itself back together. With the previous episode having shone a light on the corrupt dealings of the CIA and the government, the team must now find a way to keep themselves afloat while dodging bullets from all sides.
"Palace Intrigue: Part I" opens with Archer and Lana heading to Switzerland on a mission for the agency. However, as is often the case with these things, the mission quickly goes awry. With their cover blown, Archer and Lana soon find themselves on the run and in need of a safe place to hide.
As they travel through Switzerland, the two spies stumble upon a small, luxurious palace. It doesn't take long for them to realize that the palace was previously an ISIS safehouse.
Archer sees an opportunity to use the palace as a base of operations while they figure out their next move. Meanwhile, Lana is more skeptical, knowing that there must be a catch somewhere. Nevertheless, the pair settles in, and soon, the rest of the team joins them.
What follows is a series of entertaining hijinks and witty banter as the team attempts to get back on its feet. There are power struggles between various members of the team, with each one trying to claim their place as the new head of the organization. Meanwhile, tensions between certain characters (ahem, Archer and Lana) continue to simmer.
As the episode continues, we see just how far everyone is willing to go to maintain their position in the new order. Some characters are revealed to have more sinister intentions than others, and it quickly becomes clear that nobody can be fully trusted.
Despite the chaos, the team manages to regroup and set their sights on a bigger mission: taking down the corrupt government officials who caused the ISIS shutdown in the first place. However, they will need to navigate many twists and turns to get there, and the road is never easy.
Overall, "Palace Intrigue: Part I" is a fast-paced, action-packed episode that manages to balance humor with tension. There are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and clever one-liners, but also enough drama to keep the audience engaged. As always, the voice acting is superb, and the animation is top-notch. Fans of Archer will not be disappointed by this installment of the series.
