In Archer season 3 episode 4, entitled "The Man From Jupiter," the gang at ISIS is taken aback when a larger-than-life, ex-football star named "Burt Reynolds" comes into the office seeking protection from his bookie. Archer, in particular, is ecstatic to meet the man he's idolized since childhood, but the job quickly turns chaotic as the bookie sends several henchmen to take Burt out.
Throughout the episode, Archer is hilariously starstruck by Reynolds, frequently gushing over him and making references to his films. Meanwhile, the rest of the office tries to come up with a plan to keep Reynolds safe from the dangerous bookie. Mallory tries to negotiate with him, while Lana and Pam accompany Reynolds to a charity dinner where they attempt to blend in with the crowd.
As the night progresses, the situation becomes increasingly dire, and Archer has to confront the fact that his hero may not be the invincible action star he always thought he was. The episode is a fun departure from the usual spy hijinks, focusing instead on character relationships and celebrity worship.
Overall, "The Man From Jupiter" is a standout episode in an already excellent season of Archer. The dynamic between Reynolds and Archer is particularly entertaining, with the latter giddily fawning over the former while Reynolds remains mostly oblivious to the adoration. Fans of the series will appreciate the change of pace and the chance to see their favorite characters in a slightly different context.
