After the intense events of the previous two episodes, Archer seems to be taking a bit of a breather in "Skin Game." This is still a very funny episode, but it feels a bit more relaxed than some of the other installments this season, which is a nice change of pace.
The episode opens with Archer and Lana meeting up with an old friend of Archer's named Ruth, who now runs a high-end spa. Archer is excited to catch up with her, but it soon becomes clear that Ruth has ulterior motives. She offers to let them stay at the spa for free in exchange for Archer's help in stealing a priceless statue from a nearby museum.
The crew initially balks at the idea, but when they learn that the spa is running out of money and might get shut down, they agree to help out. The bulk of the episode is spent planning and executing the heist, with plenty of trademark Archer hijinks along the way.
As is often the case with this show, the character interactions are the highlight here. There are some great moments between Archer and Lana, as well as some hilarious exchanges between the rest of the team. Cheryl, in particular, has some great lines (as usual), and Pam gets a chance to shine in a surprising way.
One thing that's notable about "Skin Game" is that there's very little action compared to some of the other episodes this season. There are a few gunfights and chases, but much of the episode is devoted to the planning and execution of the heist. This allows the characters to really shine and show off their personalities, which is always a good thing.
Overall, "Skin Game" is a strong episode of Archer that will likely appeal to fans who enjoy the show's humor and character interactions. It's not as heavy on the action as some of the other installments this season, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The heist plot is entertaining enough, and the characters are as entertaining as ever.
