In Archer season 2 episode 2, titled "A Going Concern," the team at ISIS faces a new challenge as they attempt to protect a wealthy businessman from a potential assassination attempt. The businessman, named Alan Shapiro, is convinced that someone is out to kill him, and turns to ISIS for protection.
The episode kicks off with some typical Archer humor, as we see the team bickering and making jokes at one another's expense. However, things get serious quickly when Shapiro arrives at the ISIS headquarters in a panic, convinced that he's being followed. Archer, as always, is skeptical of Shapiro's claims, but his boss, Malory, sees the opportunity to make some money by offering to protect the businessman for a hefty fee.
As the team sets out to protect Shapiro, they quickly realize that they have their work cut out for them. Shapiro's paranoia makes him difficult to work with, and the team must navigate his erratic behavior while also keeping an eye out for any real threats. Meanwhile, a rival security company is also hot on Shapiro's trail, adding an extra layer of danger to the proceedings.
The episode is full of action and intrigue, as the team attempts to sniff out the would-be assassins and keep Shapiro safe. Of course, there are also plenty of laughs along the way, as the team's dysfunction and Archer's snarky comments provide some much-needed comic relief.
One of the standout moments of the episode comes when the rival security company sends a spy to infiltrate ISIS. Cyril, the team's resident comptroller who is often relegated to the sidelines, finally gets a chance to shine as he takes on the spy and proves his worth to the team.
As the episode reaches its climax, the tension ramps up as the team races to protect Shapiro from an attack. Without giving anything away, let's just say that things don't go quite as planned, and the team is left to pick up the pieces.
Overall, "A Going Concern" is a strong episode that showcases the best of what Archer has to offer: witty writing, engaging characters, and thrilling action. Fans of the show will find plenty to enjoy here, and newcomers will likely be hooked by the end of the episode.
