Aquarion EVOL is an action-packed anime series that takes place 12,000 years after the events of the original Aquarion. The series follows a group of young pilots who are tasked with defending the planet Vega from the invading forces of the planet Altair. The pilots operate giant mechas known as Aquaria, which can combine to create the powerful super robot known as Aquarion.

The story begins with a young orphan named Amata Sora, who possesses a unique ability to fly without the help of an Aquaria. Amata is recruited to join the organization known as Neo-DEAVA, which is dedicated to protecting Vega from the Altair threat. While at Neo-DEAVA, Amata meets a girl named Mikono Suzushiro, and together they uncover secrets about their pasts that are linked to the legendary Aquarion.

Throughout the series, the pilots of Neo-DEAVA face off against powerful Altairian enemies, including the ruthless commander known as Mykage. Along the way, they must also navigate their own personal relationships and conflicts, as well as learn to work together in order to unlock the full potential of the Aquaria and save their planet from destruction.

The animation in Aquarion EVOL is stunning, with vibrant colors and dynamic mecha designs that really bring the action sequences to life. The soundtrack is also excellent, with a mix of high-energy J-pop and orchestral pieces that help to set the tone for each scene.

One of the standout elements of the series is its unique take on mecha piloting. Unlike other mecha anime where pilots simply control their machines from inside a cockpit, the Aquaria require a deeper connection between the pilots in order to function at full capacity. This is achieved through a process known as merging, where the pilots' minds and bodies become one in order to control the Aquaria with greater precision and strength. The merging process also leads to some interesting dynamics between the characters, as they must learn to trust and rely on one another in order to succeed in battle.

Overall, Aquarion EVOL is an exciting and engaging anime series that will appeal to fans of mecha action, epic sci-fi battles, and complex character relationships. With stunning animation, a great soundtrack, and plenty of twists and turns, it's a series that is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats from beginning to end.

Aquarion EVOL is a series that ran for 2 seasons (40 episodes) between January 8, 2012 and on FUNimation
