In Aqua Teen Hunger Force season 1 episode 9, entitled "Revenge Of The Mooninites," we see our favorite fast food trio - Master Shake, Frylock, and Meatwad - encounter a pair of extraterrestrial troublemakers. The Mooninites, Ignignokt and Err, first appear on the show in this episode, wreaking havoc on the ATHF's neighborhood with their shape-shifting abilities and general disregard for human existence.
The episode begins with the Mooninites invading the Aqua Teen's living room, where they demand that Frylock relinquish his "high-tech" piece of equipment - actually just a simple calculator - to them. Frylock, being the sensible one, refuses, prompting Ignignokt and Err to vow revenge on the Aqua Teens. They retreat back to their ship, and the ATHF boys think they're rid of them.
But the Mooninites are nothing if not persistent. They begin unleashing a barrage of pranks and destruction on the town, using their ability to manipulate reality to cause chaos wherever they go. They show up at the local mall and wreak havoc on the stores, turning one into a fast food restaurant and another into a brothel. The ATHF are powerless to stop them, and the destruction only escalates as the Mooninites use their powers to cause a massive blackout in the city.
Meanwhile, Carl, the Aqua Teen's surly neighbor, is having his own problems. He's been tasked with babysitting his boss's daughter, and is none too pleased about it. But when the Mooninites show up at his house, he's forced to team up with the Aqua Teens to take them down. Carl is less than thrilled about the situation, however, and spends most of the episode complaining about the inconvenience.
The climax of the episode comes when the ATHF finally confront the Mooninites in a showdown in the town square. The Mooninites use their shape-shifting abilities to transform into giant versions of themselves, and the ATHF retaliate with a makeshift robot suit that Master Shake cobbles together out of trash cans and cardboard boxes. The ensuing battle is chaotic and ridiculous, with both sides unleashing a barrage of lasers and explosions.
In the end, though, the Aqua Teens emerge victorious. They manage to use their wits and some clever tricks to outsmart the Mooninites and send them packing back to their own planet. The town is in ruins, but the Aqua Teens are triumphant - although they're quick to point out that they only won because the Mooninites were kind of stupid.
"Revenge Of The Mooninites" is a classic episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, full of the show's trademark absurdity and off-the-wall humor. It's a great introduction to the Mooninites, who would go on to become recurring characters throughout the series. And, like many episodes of ATHF, it's a wild ride that will leave viewers both entertained and thoroughly confused.
