Stonor Park, one of the oldest manor houses in England, is the setting for this week's episode of Antiques Roadshow UK. Host Fiona Bruce and the team of experts are on hand to appraise a wide range of antiques and collectibles brought in by local residents and visitors from across the country.

The episode opens with a look at the stunning grounds of Stonor Park, which is located in Oxfordshire. The house itself dates back to the 12th century, and has been home to the Stonor family for over 850 years. Fiona Bruce meets with the current Lord and Lady Camoys to learn more about the history of the house and the family's collection of art and antiques.

The first item up for appraisal is a beautiful and intricate ivory chess set, which was brought in by a local resident. The set is over 100 years old and has been in the family for several generations. Antiques expert Christ Churchman takes a closer look and is impressed by the craftsmanship and attention to detail in the set, which he says would have been made by one of the best ivory carvers of the time. He appraises the set at over £2,000, much to the delight of the owner.

Next up is a charming portrait of a young girl, which was bought at auction by its current owner. The portrait is unsigned, but expert Philip Mould suspects that it may be the work of a well-known 18th-century artist. He points out the unique style and composition of the painting, and notes that it is likely to be worth several thousand pounds.

One of the most intriguing items to come through the doors of the Roadshow in this episode is a rare gold sovereign, which was discovered by a metal detectorist in a field near the house. The coin dates back to the reign of Henry VIII and is in remarkable condition, considering its age and the fact that it has been buried for centuries. Antiques expert Mark Hill is amazed by the find and appraises the coin at over £5,000.

The Roadshow team also get to work appraising a range of furniture, including a French ormolu clock, which is estimated to be worth over £15,000, and a set of 17th-century chairs, which expert Lennox Cato notes were likely made by one of the most famous furniture makers of the time.

As well as these stunning antiques, the team also see a range of quirky and unusual items. These include a collection of vintage gaming machines, a rare and valuable globe from the 18th century, and a delicate and ornate parasol from the Victorian era.

Throughout the episode, viewers are treated to fascinating insights into the history and provenance of each item that comes through the doors. Experts share their knowledge and expertise, and provide tips on how to spot valuable antiques and collectibles.

In all, this is a fascinating episode of Antiques Roadshow UK, which highlights the incredible range and diversity of items that can be found in homes and collections across the country. With expert appraisals and fascinating stories behind each item, it is sure to delight anyone with an interest in antiques and history.
