In Episode 9 of Antiques Road Trip season 6, our expert antiques dealers take on the challenge of exploring the wilds of Sussex and Kent in search of antique treasures. Setting off from Dungeness, they head towards Battle, where they plan to take a closer look at the famous Battlefield Abbey. However, before they can get there, they stumble onto a hidden gem: the country home of a local eccentric with an incredible collection of vintage toys.
Excited by the prospect of uncovering rare and valuable items, our dealers waste no time in getting started. They split up, each taking a different route through the sprawling estate, before finally reuniting to compare their finds. One dealer uncovers a beautiful silver tea set with a fascinating history, while another stumbles onto a stunning Georgian mirror that catches their eye.
Determined to make the best deals possible, the rivals hit the road once again, this time heading towards the town of Winchelsea. On the way, they explore a number of local antique shops and flea markets, always on the lookout for something special. One dealer scores big with a pair of rare porcelain vases, while another snags a set of delicate silver spoons that date back to the 18th century.
As the day wears on and their bags fill up with fantastic finds, the dealers begin to get a sense of just how competitive their mission has become. With each new discovery, they are reminded of the stakes of the game, and the thrill of the hunt keeps them all on their toes.
Eventually, the dealers find themselves in Rye, a historic town with a rich past and a thriving antiques market. It's here that they hope to make their final deals, and they waste no time in getting started. One dealer decides to take a risk on a beautiful early 19th-century table, while another snaps up a Victorian-era scrapbook filled with fascinating artifacts and ephemera.
With only a few hours left before the auction, the dealers race to get their finds appraised and valued, hoping to make a profit at the upcoming sale. Along the way, they share their experiences and insights with one another, reflecting on the challenges and rewards of the antiques trade.
Finally, the auction arrives, and the dealers gather to see who will come out on top. Amidst a sea of enthusiastic buyers and curious onlookers, they watch as their prized items are put up for bidding, hoping to see them fetch a good price.
In the end, it's anyone's game, and the victor will be decided by the whims of the market. But win or lose, all the dealers know that they've had a truly unforgettable adventure, one that has taken them through beautiful countryside, introduced them to fascinating people, and given them a chance to explore some of the most intriguing antiques in the UK.
