In episode 20 of season 5 of Antiques Road Trip, our two expert presenters - James Braxton and Christina Trevanion - continue their journey across the UK in search of hidden treasures and antique gems.
As always, the pair start off their adventure with a budget of £200 each and set off in their vintage cars to explore the local areas and meet with antique dealers and collectors. They are on a mission to buy items that will make them a profit at auction, all while learning about the history and significance of the antique pieces they come across.
Their first stop is an antiques fair in Cheshire, where Christina wastes no time in finding a unique Chinese snuff bottle that catches her eye. James, on the other hand, is lured by a striking pair of antique binoculars. Both presenters are convinced that their purchases will fetch a good price at auction, but only time will tell.
Next, the pair head to Chester to meet with antique dealer David Harper. While they peruse his collection, David shares fascinating stories about some of his prized possessions, including an interesting piece of artwork created by a famous British artist. James and Christina are impressed by his knowledge and expertise, and David proves to be a tough negotiator when it comes to making a deal.
After leaving David's shop, the presenters head to an antiques centre in Tetbury, where they get lost among the maze of stalls and dealers. Christina finds an unusual silver-gilt box that she believes could be a hidden gem, while James falls in love with an antique compass. However, they soon discover that they aren't the only ones eyeing up these items, as they get caught up in a bidding war with each other.
The final leg of their journey takes them to an auction house in Bristol, where they hope to make some profit from their purchases. There's a tense atmosphere in the air as they watch their items go under the hammer, and it's a rollercoaster of emotions as some of the pieces fetch far more than they expected, while others fail to generate much interest from the bidders.
Overall, it's an exciting and unpredictable episode of Antiques Road Trip, with lots of interesting antique finds and competitive bidding wars. It's a testament to the knowledge and intuition of our presenters as they navigate the tricky world of antiques and uncover hidden treasures that others might miss.
