Episode 8 of season 23 of Antiques Road Trip takes viewers on a journey through the North West of England. The show follows two expert antique dealers as they travel by car through the region, searching for hidden treasures that they can sell at an auction at the end of the week.
The episode begins with the two dealers, Christina Trevanion and James Braxton, meeting up at a beautiful estate in Cheshire. Christina starts off strong, finding a stunning diamond brooch at the estate that she hopes will bring in a large profit at the auction. James, meanwhile, is struggling to find anything of value.
Their next stop is at an antiques fair in Lancashire. Christina manages to find some beautiful pieces of silver, including a tea set that catches her eye. James, meanwhile, finally has some luck when he uncovers a hidden compartment in a wooden chest that contains a valuable piece of porcelain.
As they make their way through the region, the two dealers also take time to explore some of the local attractions. They visit the historic market town of Bury, where they explore the famous Bury Market, which has been in operation for over 600 years. They also visit the stunning Dunham Massey, a National Trust property that is home to a beautiful Georgian house and gardens.
Back on the antique trail, Christina and James head to Liverpool, where they visit a dealer who specializes in rare and unusual items. Christina finds a beautiful piece of Lalique glass that she hopes will be a big hit at the auction. James, however, is less successful, unable to find anything that really catches his eye.
Their final stop before the auction is at a large manor house in Cheshire. Christina is thrilled to find a rare and valuable piece of furniture that she knows will sell well at auction. James, however, is still struggling, unable to find anything that he thinks will bring in a decent profit.
Finally, the day of the auction arrives, and the two dealers nervously await the results. Christina's diamond brooch sells for a fantastic price, as does her Lalique glass and the piece of furniture she found at the manor house. James is relieved to find that his porcelain piece sells well, but he still doesn't manage to make as much profit as Christina.
Overall, Episode 8 of Antiques Road Trip is a fascinating look at the world of antique dealing, as well as a celebration of the rich history and culture of the North West of England.
