Charlie kicks off the episode by visiting a historic bank in Blackburn, where he meets with its current owners, a husband and wife team, to learn about the interesting social history of the building. The bank has been restored to its former glory and is now filled with exquisite antique furniture and art pieces. Charlie's expert eye quickly spots a beautiful Art Deco figure sculpture that he thinks could fetch a high price at auction.
Meanwhile, Catherine heads to Samlesbury Hall, a Tudor manor house that boasts a long and colorful past. The house has been regularly updated and renovated over the centuries, and Catherine takes a particular interest in the different architectural styles throughout the property. She also discovers a fascinating connection between the hall and one of her favorite authors.
Charlie, a seasoned pro at finding hidden gems, makes a stop at a quaint store filled with vintage tools. The owner shares his vast knowledge of the products and even shows Charlie how to use one of the old-school tools. Charlie gets excited when he spots a rare 18th-century compass plane, which he thinks could make for a lucrative find.
Catherine makes a visit to the Ribble Steam Railway, where she meets some passionate rail enthusiasts. She learns about the history of the railway and how it played a major role in the transportation of goods throughout the region. Catherine also gets to drive a vintage steam train, and she relishes in the chance to indulge in her childhood dream.
As the road trip progresses, Charlie and Catherine visit several more antique shops, searching for valuable finds. They go head-to-head in a tense auction at the Silverwoods auction house in Clitheroe, where they bid on the items they have acquired on their journey. Both experts hope to make a tidy profit on their investments, but only one will come out on top.
Throughout the episode, viewers get a fascinating glimpse into Lancashire's unique history and see some beautiful antique pieces up close.
