In episode 8 of season 21 of Antiques Road Trip, two experts embark on a journey through the East of England in search of valuable antiques to sell at auction. The veteran experts set out on a mission to buy and haggle their way to profit, while enjoying the stunning scenery of the East of England.
Raj Bisram and Roo Irvine, the two experts leading the way, begin their journey at an impressive Georgian hotel in Newmarket. As they check out, they spot a rare single-shot shotgun that catches their eye, and they decide to make an offer to the owner. The negotiations continue just a few miles away, where the pair visits an antique dealer in Bury St Edmunds. Here, they discover a Victorian bread oven, which Raj believes is worth a lot of money.
Next, the duo heads to the quaint town of Lavenham, where they stumble upon a rare and unusual wind-up phonograph that looks like a suitcase. Roo and Raj are impressed and agree to negotiate with the seller, but will they be able to secure a good deal?
After Lavenham, the experts drive to the market town of Beccles, where they visit an antiques centre. Here, they spend several hours scouring the stalls and shelves, looking for treasures that will make them profit. Raj has his eye on a rare silver tray, while Roo spots a beautiful Chinese vase, both of which they believe will fetch a good price at auction.
Their next stop is the bustling Suffolk coastal town of Southwold, where they immerse themselves in the local culture. Raj explores the town's historic pier, while Roo discovers the art deco delights of the town's cinema. However, it's not long before the pair are back to business, as they spot some valuable items at an antiques shop in the town.
From Southwold, the experts head to the charming village of Wenhaston, where they discover a collection of vintage medical equipment. Raj is particularly interested in a set of old dental drills, while Roo is fascinated by an antique doctor's bag and its contents.
Finally, the pair ends up in the picturesque town of Woodbridge, where they visit Jaguar Antiques. Here, they are faced with some very unusual antiques, including a Victorian plaster death mask and an Edwardian jacket with a curious provenance. They haggle hard to try and get a good price on these fascinating items.
Throughout the episode, there is plenty of banter between Raj and Roo, who tease each other about their different approaches to buying antiques. Raj is focused on finding rare and valuable items, while Roo enjoys the thrill of the hunt. However, they both agree that the East of England has plenty to offer, in terms of both antique shops and stunning scenery.
At the end of the episode, viewers will have to wait until the auction to find out how much the experts make from their purchases. Will they be able to turn a profit on their eclectic mix of antiques? Tune in to find out!
