In Episode 18 of season 19 of Antiques Road Trip, veteran antiques experts Paul Laidlaw and Anita Manning embark on another exciting journey across the UK in search of rare and valuable collectibles. The duo starts their adventure in the picturesque town of Battle, East Sussex, where they visit the historic Battle Abbey, the site of the famous Battle of Hastings in 1066. Here, they hope to unearth some fascinating artifacts related to the Norman Conquest that could fetch them a good price at auction.
After exploring Battle Abbey, Paul and Anita head to their first antique shop, the Castlegate Antiques & Interiors in Lewes. The shop boasts a vast collection of antique furniture, decorative items, and artworks that the experts carefully examine for any hidden treasures. They come across some exquisite silver items, including a rare Georgian sugar sifter that they think could be worth a substantial amount. However, the store owner is reluctant to let it go for less than his asking price, leaving the experts with a tough decision to make.
Next, Paul and Anita visit the quaint village of Henfield in West Sussex to explore the Antiques Warehouse. One of the largest antique stores in the county, the warehouse is packed with a dazzling array of vintage collectibles ranging from classic cars to antique jewelry. The pair spots a beautiful ceramic vase from the Art Nouveau period that catches their eye, but they soon discover that it is not an original and would not fetch much at auction.
From there, the experts make their way to Cuckfield to visit the charming Thakeham Furniture showroom. Here, they browse through an impressive selection of antique wooden furniture, including dining sets, dressers, and wardrobes, all meticulously restored to their former glory. The duo is particularly impressed with a stunning Regency-period mahogany card table, which they feel has a good chance of fetching a high price at auction.
Continuing their road trip, Paul and Anita head to the market town of Dorking in Surrey to explore an antique emporium called Juniper. A treasure trove of quirky collectibles, the shop has an eclectic mix of vintage toys, clothing, and home decor, as well as antique jewelry and watches. The experts find a striking bronze sculpture of a galloping horse that they believe could be an excellent buy, but they soon discover that it comes with a hefty price tag.
The final leg of the journey takes Paul and Anita to the town of Haslemere in Surrey, where they visit a family-run antiques store called Maggie & Jewels. Here, they uncover some fascinating antique weapons, including a rare Victorian cavalry sabre and an ornately designed Ottoman dagger. While the weapons are impressive, the experts find their prices to be too steep for their budget.
Despite some ups and downs on their journey, Paul and Anita manage to accumulate an impressive assortment of antiques that they hope will fetch them a decent profit at auction. As they head to a local auction house, they reflect on the highs and lows of their adventure and speculate on the final outcome. Will their chosen items attract the attention of eager bidders, or will they fall short of their expectations? Only time will tell in this exciting episode of Antiques Road Trip.
