The pair are on a journey to discover and acquire valuable antiques all across the country. Antiques Road Trip is an entertaining show taking the viewers on a fascinating journey of discoveries of antique artefacts, paintings, collectibles with exceptional histories that are worth admiring.
In episode 13, Christina and James set off on a journey towards Arley Hall in Cheshire and move towards the historical town of Chester. The episode starts with a pleasant drive through the green countryside of England, where Christina expresses her excitement about the trip and relays her expectations on getting a first-class bargain. Meanwhile, James is more laid-back at the idea of the trip and is looking forward to discovering the new places they'll visit.
Their first stop is a large antique warehouse, where they have a wide variety of antiques, collectibles, and ancient artefacts. The pair quickly get to work, testing their skills as antique experts in search of the perfect antique item to purchase that would yield a reasonable price in the future. James sets his eyes on a beautiful wooden chest with intricate designs on the top, while Christina oversees what other antiques are available. She encounters a bronze statue which she haggles and gets at an excellent bargain. James, in contrast, is keen to find out the worth of a wooden horse but is advised against it by Christina.
In the following scene, Christina and James visit a reputable designer furniture outlet. They start with a Chaise Longue, and James appraises its strengths but also its weaknesses. Christina is impressed with a 60s-era chair made by a prominent Danish designer and is convinced it was handmade before producing her final price on it. This is swiftly followed by James noticing a tea set that he marvels at, considering the high-quality design and craftsmanship, while advising Christina on how to navigate the intricate nature of antique glassware. The two experts haggle, and they walk away with some items that would later prove to be worthy investments.
The duo's next stop is in the town of Chester, where they head to a vintage market. Christina and James intend to find unique items that can fetch a premium price. Christina runs into a rare plate design and believes it's worth much than its selling price. James, however, does not hold back his doubts, stating that it was a difficult sell. They come across a boucherouite, a traditional handmade rug, which both experts show interest in, noting that it’s becoming popular, with customers wanting rugs with a story. Later, among other artefacts, Christina spots an antique spice box, while James marvels at a French coffee pot. They haggle with the sellers for a considerable amount of time, until they finally reach an agreement.
Their final stop is at Arley Hall, in Cheshire. Arley Hall is known for its ancient antique collection, and they make their way to see what magnificent ancient artefacts are in store. They have a say in the pricing and appraisal of the ancient antique collection. Christina admires a unique pipe collection, and James overlooks her choice, believing it's expensive and not worth its value. A brief look at some fascinating cutlery collection elicits a surprised reaction from James, who can't believe the beauty and value of the items. Christina then stumbles upon a unique needlework piece, which she believes is worth a chunk of money in the current market.
In conclusion, Antiques Road Trip S17E13 features Christina and James visiting various locations, including antique stores, furniture outlets, vintage markets, and the ancient collection of Arley Hall. The show serves as an educational and informative piece for antique enthusiasts and provides valuable insights into the antique market.
