In this episode of Antiques Road Trip season 16, the two expert contestants set off on their journey from Cirencester to the county of Oxfordshire. The theme for this leg of the journey is ceramics, and the experts are looking to make some great finds in order to outdo each other and make a tidy profit at auction.
The first stop for our antiques experts is a local auction house in Witney. Here, they get to preview some of the items that will be up for auction later in the day, including some exquisite porcelain figurines and some beautiful vases that catch both of their eyes. However, the experts know that it's not always the most valuable items that will make the most profit, so they start to look for some hidden gems that might be undervalued by the auction house.
As they make their way through the Oxfordshire countryside, the experts stop at a number of antique shops, each with its own unique collection of ceramics. From rare Meissen porcelain pieces to antique Japanese vases, the experts are able to find a wide variety of items that they believe could be worth a lot of money at auction.
One of the more interesting stops on their journey is at a small pottery shop, where the owner is still making ceramics in the traditional way. The experts are fascinated by the process and are able to find some beautiful examples of the kind of work that the shop produces. They also discover that some of the older pieces made by the shop are now highly sought after by collectors and could fetch a good price at auction.
Along the way, the experts take some time to indulge their passion for all things ceramic and visit a number of historic pottery sites. They learn about the history of ceramics in the local area and discover how certain styles have evolved over time. The experts even have a go at making some pottery themselves, with varying levels of success!
As the day draws to a close, the experts make their way back to the auction house for the final showdown. They're both confident in the items that they've picked up on their journey and are hopeful of making a good profit. However, as is often the case in Antiques Road Trip, things don't quite go according to plan! Both experts are in for a few surprises as they see the final values of the items they've bought revealed at auction.
Overall, Episode 13 of Antiques Road Trip season 16 is an entertaining and informative journey through the world of ceramics. With plenty of interesting locations, historical insights, and fascinating items to be seen, this episode is sure to delight fans of the show and anyone with an interest in antiques and collectibles.
