Episode 8 of season 14 of Antiques Road Trip sees two antiques experts set off on a journey across the UK to find hidden treasures and forgotten gems. In this episode, they start off in Peterborough and head towards the Norfolk Broads, stopping off at a number of antique shops and auctions along the way.
The journey begins in Peterborough where the pair start off at an auction. Amongst the lots up for sale are an antique plate and a cast iron garden seat. The experts take a closer look and make a few bids, hoping to pick up a bargain. Next up, they head to a dealer's workshop where they find some stunning pieces of furniture, including an early 19th-century Pembroke table and a Georgian mahogany chest of drawers.
After a quick lunch break, they head to a large antiques centre to investigate some fantastic collectibles. They come across a selection of Royal Worcester porcelain figurines, inspired by the famous works of Charles Dickens and his characters. There are also some antique coins, with one dating back to Anglo-Saxon times.
As they continue on their journey, they stop off at a number of antique shops and auctions, encountering some amazing items including a rare Georgian chest and an Art Deco bronze lamp. The experts give their knowledgeable opinions on each piece, assessing its value and discussing their history. Some of the items they come across could potentially be worth a lot of money, while others may be great finds for collectors.
Finally, they reach their destination, The Norfolk Broads, where they continue their search for antiques. Amongst the items they find are a selection of charming antique wall clocks and a stunning hand-carved ivory box, along with some beautiful vintage jewellery.
Throughout their journey, the experts also discuss their own personal experiences with antiques, from discovering amazing treasures to the challenges of restoring and maintaining them. They offer tips on how to get the most from antiques, including how to tell if an item is genuine or fake, and how to care for it properly.
