Two of Britain's finest experts on antiques, Charles Hanson and Margie Cooper, embark on another Antiques Road Trip to find the best deals in Derbyshire. In this episode, titled "Episode 11," the two antiques aficionados will be driving around the Peak District, searching for hidden gems that they can buy and hopefully sell at auction for a profit.
Charles and Margie begin their journey by stopping at the Bakewell Old House Museum, where they meet a curator who tells them about the history of the building and shows them some unique antiques from different time periods. Margie is drawn to a stunning Georgian tea caddy, while Charles is interested in a Victorian dolls house.
Their first stop is at an antiques fair, where they spend the morning looking for bargains. Margie is in the mood for the hunt and quickly finds a silver sugar caster that she thinks will sell well. Charles, on the other hand, struggles to find anything of interest until he comes across a quirky Victorian earthenware pot that catches his eye.
After the antiques fair, the duo drives to a nearby market town, where they split up to look for more hidden gems. Margie shops around in the local charity shops and hits the jackpot with a beautiful Edwardian silver bowl that she's able to snag for a steal. Charles, on the other hand, takes a different approach and heads to a local pub, where he meets up with a collector who shows him some of his own antiques and shares his knowledge of the local history.
As the day comes to an end, Charles and Margie head to a local auction to sell their items. Margie's silver sugar caster attracts a lot of attention and sells for a high price, while Charles' quirky earthenware pot doesn't draw much interest and only goes for a modest amount. However, they both make a profit, and the two continue their journey to see what other treasures they can collect.
The next day, Charles and Margie visit a stately home, where they admire the grandeur of the estate and its impressive collection of antiques. They also get the chance to meet with the estate's curator, who shows them some of the more unusual pieces in the collection, including a beautiful 18th-century porcelain figurine and a rare piece of Meissen porcelain.
For their final stop, the two head to a local antique dealer, who has a reputation for having some of the best antiques in town. Margie is thrilled to find a classic Georgian watercolour painting that she's convinced will sell for a high price at auction, while Charles falls in love with an unusual brass kaleidoscope from the 19th century.
As they head to their final auction, Charles and Margie are both feeling confident about their chances of making a profit. Margie's Georgian watercolour painting is the first item up for auction, and it sells for an impressive sum, much higher than she had expected. However, Charles is disappointed when his brass kaleidoscope only attracts one bid and sells for a lower than anticipated price.
At the end of the episode, Charles and Margie tally up their earnings and are pleased to discover that they've both made a good profit overall. They say goodbye to Derbyshire and head off to their next destination, eager to see what other treasures they can uncover on their Antiques Road Trip.
