Episode 16 of season 13 of Antiques Road Trip takes viewers on a journey with two antiques experts as they traverse the British countryside in search of treasures and valuables. This episode follows the duo, experts Charles Hanson and James Braxton, as they travel from Kent to Essex in their classic car, aiming to find valuable antiques that will make them a profit at auction.
Their first stop is in Kent, where they visit an antique shop run by a husband and wife team. The couple show the experts a unique piece of furniture – an antique mahogany writing bureau – and Charles and James are both impressed by its quality and craftsmanship. However, they soon discover that the piece is not as old as they first thought, and decide not to buy it. Instead, the duo head to a nearby auction house, where they hope to find some hidden gems.
At the auction house, James is drawn to a large collection of vintage railway travel posters, which he believes could be popular with collectors. Charles, on the other hand, is interested in a set of antique silver cutlery, which he believes could fetch a good price. The experts bid against each other for these items, but who will come out on top?
The next leg of their journey takes them to the county of Essex, where they visit a gallery run by two sisters who have a passion for antiques. Here, James spots a set of antique tea caddies, which he believes could be worth a lot of money, while Charles is fascinated by a collection of antique buttons. But will their purchases pay off at auction?
As they travel through Essex, the experts stop off at a local antiques fair, where they hope to find some bargains. Among the stalls, they come across some vintage jewellery, a set of antique candlesticks, and a collection of rare books. However, they soon discover that they are not the only ones interested in these items, and they must fight off other bidders to secure a good deal.
The final part of their journey takes the experts to an auction in the town of Chelmsford, where they hope to sell their purchases. James puts his vintage railway posters up for auction, while Charles sells his antique silver cutlery. Both are hoping for a good result, but will their items sell for the prices they were hoping for?
As always, Antiques Road Trip offers viewers a fascinating insight into the world of antiques and collectables.
