In the first episode of the thirteenth season of Antiques Road Trip, antiques experts Natasha Raskin Sharp and Charles Hanson set out on a new adventure to explore the UK in search of hidden treasures and antiques. The series follows the pair as they travel around the country in two classic cars, Charles's red MG Midget and Natasha's green Triumph Spitfire.

Their journey begins in Edinburgh, Scotland, where they visit the historic Hopetoun House, a stately home that has been in the Hope family for over 300 years. Here, the experts meet with the current Lord Hopetoun, who shows them around the collection of antiques and artwork that has been accumulated by the family over the years. Natasha and Charles are particularly impressed by a set of 18th-century tapestries that once hung in the Palace of Versailles, and they make a note to keep an eye out for similar pieces as they continue their journey.

From Hopetoun House, Natasha and Charles head south to Hawick, a small town on the Scottish border. Here, they visit an auction house and search for hidden gems among the many lots that are up for sale. Charles is drawn to a pair of silver candlesticks, while Natasha falls in love with a Victorian taxidermy bird. As the bidding heats up, the experts must decide whether to stick to their initial estimates or risk going over budget to secure the items they want.

The next stop on the road trip is Northumberland, where Natasha and Charles visit Alnwick Castle, the ancestral home of the Duke of Northumberland. Here, they explore the castle's impressive collection of artworks and antiques, including a set of four Canaletto paintings and an 18th-century sedan chair. As they make their way through the castle, the experts also learn about its fascinating history, dating back over 1,000 years.

Leaving Northumberland behind, the pair make their way down to York, where they visit the famous York Minster, one of the largest and most impressive cathedrals in Europe. Here, they are awed by the stunning stained-glass windows and intricate stone carvings, which date back to the 13th century. As they explore the cathedral, Natasha and Charles also learn about its rich history and the role it has played in British religious life over the centuries.

Their final destination is Chatsworth House, a grand country estate in Derbyshire that has been home to the Cavendish family since the 16th century. Here, they meet the current Duke of Devonshire and explore the estate's stunning collection of antiques and artwork, including pieces by Rembrandt and Van Dyck. As they peruse the collection, Natasha and Charles also learn about the estate's fascinating history and the many iconic figures who have called it home over the years.

Throughout the journey, Natasha and Charles enjoy good-natured competition as they try to outdo each other in finding the best hidden gems and bargains. Along the way, they also share their extensive knowledge of antiques and history, offering fascinating insights into the many treasures they encounter. From stately homes to auction houses, from castles to cathedrals, Antiques Road Trip season 13 episode 1 is a thrilling and engaging exploration of the many hidden treasures that can be found across the UK.
