In this episode of Antiques Road Trip season 11, our two expert antique dealers set off on another adventure in their vintage sports car. The journey takes them through some beautiful countryside as they travel through Somerset, Devon, and Cornwall in search of valuable antiques and collectibles.
As always, the two dealers will be competing against each other to see who can make the most profit by selling their finds at auction. This adds an exciting competitive element to the show that viewers always enjoy.
Their first stop is at the Bishop's Palace in Wells, Somerset. Here they meet Dr. Susan Pittman who gives them a guided tour of this historic building. They learn about its fascinating history and see some of the beautiful antiques and artwork that are on display.
After exploring the Bishop's Palace, our two dealers head to an antiques center in the nearby town of Glastonbury. Here they split up and begin searching for valuable antiques that they can sell at auction. Some of the items that they come across include a beautiful Victorian silver belt buckle, a rare Georgian tea caddy, and a unique mid-century modern lamp.
Next, they travel to the picturesque coastal town of Salcombe in Devon. Here they meet a local antiques dealer named David Jones who shows them around his impressive collection of antique furniture, artwork, and decorative objects. David is a fountain of knowledge about antiques and our two dealers are impressed by his expertise.
Their next stop is at an auction house in Plymouth, where they will be selling the items that they have collected on their journey so far. The auctioneer is tough, and our two dealers are nervous about how their lots will perform. However, they both manage to make some decent profits, adding to the excitement and tension of the show.
After the auction, they head to the historic town of Penzance in Cornwall. Here they visit the famous Egyptian House, a beautifully preserved eighteenth-century townhouse that features an incredible collection of antiques and artwork.
The final part of their journey takes them to a studio in St. Ives, Cornwall. Here they meet the renowned Cornish artist, Peter Lanyon, who is famous for his abstract landscapes. They get a fascinating insight into his work and learn about the history and significance of the St. Ives art scene.
