In this episode of Antiques Road Trip, our two contestants embark on a journey through the picturesque county of Somerset, in the South West of England. Expert antique dealers Charles Hanson and Christina Trevanion are pitted against each other once again, as they travel through the stunning countryside to seek out the best antique bargains.
As they start their journey, Christina and Charles set their sights on a treasure trove of antiques at The Bath Decorative & Antiques Fair. With so many stalls to explore, both experts are keen to find some rare and unusual items to take home and sell at auction.
Charles is on the hunt for some high-end items that will impress the auction house, but also appeal to potential buyers. He manages to find a beautiful pair of Georgian salt cellars that catches his eye, as well as an impressive collection of rare stamps that he hopes will bring in some big money at the auction.
Meanwhile, Christina is more interested in quirky and unusual items that will stand out in the auction house catalogue. She finds a gorgeous Art Deco lamp that screams sophistication and elegance, as well as a striking bronze sculpture of a bird that she believes will do well with collectors.
As the day draws to a close, both Christina and Charles have made some excellent purchases. They now head to the next location on their journey: Radstock.
In Radstock, the experts visit a lovely little antique shop called Rat and Ratchet. The shop owner, Steve, has a great selection of antiques, some of which are true hidden gems. Charles is particularly drawn to an antique grandfather clock that he thinks will be a sure-fire winner at auction.
Christina, however, has her sights set on an unusual item she's never seen before: a Victorian fernery. This stunning piece of furniture is designed to house ferns and other plants, and Christina believes it will appeal to collectors with a love for all things botanical.
After making some more purchases in Radstock, Christina and Charles head to their final location of the day: Taunton.
Taunton is a wonderful market town and the perfect place for the experts to find some amazing antiques. They head straight to The Emporium, a shop that's filled to the brim with eclectic treasures.
Charles spots a beautiful set of Victorian chairs that he thinks will appeal to collectors with a love for the craftsmanship of yesteryear. Christina, on the other hand, finds a stunning piece of contemporary glassware that she believes will be popular with modern collectors.
With so many fantastic finds on their journey, Christina and Charles are feeling confident about their chances at auction. They head back to the auction house with their treasures, ready to put them up for sale.
As the auction gets underway, it's clear that both experts have made some excellent choices. Charles' Georgian salt cellars fetch an impressive price, as do Christina's Art Deco lamp and bronze bird sculpture.
Overall, Christina and Charles have had a successful day hunting for antiques in Somerset. They've found some fantastic treasures, and made some excellent purchases that are sure to impress buyers at auction.
