Animal Mechanicals was a Canadian animated television show that aired on The Hub in 2008. The show was created by Jeff Rosen and produced by Halifax Film Company, and features the voice talents of Jim Fowler, Shannon Lynch, and Ian MacDougall. The show follows a team of animal-inspired robots known as the Animal Mechanicals. Each member of the team has unique abilities and strengths that they use to solve problems and complete missions. The team is led by Rex, a large yellow animal with a drill for a nose. Other members of the team include Unicorn, a pink and purple animal with a horn that shoots rainbows, Komodo, a green reptile with the ability to extend his body and limbs, Mouse, a blue rodent with the power of super speed, and Sasquatch, a purple creature with incredible strength and the ability to grow to massive sizes.
Each episode sees the Animal Mechanicals receive a mission from their friend Island Owl, who sends them on adventures to explore different areas of the Animal Mechanicals world. The Animal Mechanicals travel through the world in their flying vehicle, known as the Tortuga. Once they arrive at their destination, they encounter challenges and obstacles that require them to use their unique abilities and work together to complete the mission.
Throughout the show, the Animal Mechanicals encounter a variety of other characters, both friend and foe. One recurring character is the villainous Zuma, a robotic squid who is determined to steal the Animal Mechanicals' abilities for herself. Zuma is often accompanied by her henchman, Snapper, a snapping turtle who is fiercely loyal to her master.
While the show is primarily aimed at young children, Animal Mechanicals has been praised for its fun and engaging storytelling, colorful animation, and positive messages.
