Charlie and the Slumpbuster, the second episode of Anger Management's first season, follows the continued efforts of Charlie Goodson (played by Charlie Sheen) to manage his anger issues and those of his patients.
In this installment, Charlie is determined to help his baseball team, the prison Power, break their losing streak. With a little help from his friend and fellow therapist Kate, Charlie sets out to recruit a "slumpbuster" for the team - a woman whose sole purpose is to break the players' losing streak and help them regain their confidence.
Meanwhile, Charlie is also dealing with his rebellious teenage daughter, Sam, who is skipping school and getting in trouble with the law. Charlie's ex-wife, Jennifer, is pushing for Charlie to take a tougher stance with Sam, but Charlie struggles with finding the balance between tough love and understanding.
As the episode progresses, Charlie's efforts to find a slumpbuster for his team lead him to an unlikely candidate - a woman named Lacey who has a bit of a reputation around town. Despite his reservations, Charlie decides to bring Lacey onto the team, and surprisingly, her unconventional methods actually seem to work.
However, as the team starts to turn their luck around, Charlie's personal life starts to spiral out of control. A mix-up at the pharmacy leads to an embarrassing incident at his daughter's school, and he's forced to confront the fact that his anger issues are affecting not only himself, but those around him as well.
In the end, Charlie is forced to make a tough decision regarding Lacey's role on the team, and he finally starts to realize that he can't keep running from his past and the consequences of his actions. But even as he begins to take steps towards self-improvement, it's clear that Charlie's journey towards managing his anger is far from over.
