Angel season 2 episode 6, titled "Guise Will Be Guise," sees our vampire-with-a-soul hero embarking on a rather unusual mission. To help a wealthy client, he agrees to temporarily swap places with the client's human butler - a decision that proves to be quite the challenge for Angel.
The episode begins with Angel receiving a request from his secretary Cordelia to meet with a potential client named Marcus Roscoe. Roscoe, a very wealthy man, wants Angel Investigations to guard him and his family from an unknown assailant. However, when he arrives at Roscoe's estate, Angel discovers that Roscoe is actually a demon who wants Angel to impersonate his butler while he attends a meeting with the heads of other demon clans.
At first, Angel thinks the request is ridiculous. However, he eventually agrees after Roscoe threatens to tell the other demons that Angel is there to attack them. Angel swaps clothes with the butler and goes to attend the meeting with Roscoe's allies. The twist comes when Angel discovers that the other clans are planning to attack Roscoe and his allies, and he is the only one who can save them.
As Angel tries to keep a low profile, he faces many challenges that come with the role of a butler, including serving drinks, cleaning and cooking. These are things that Angel the Vampire has never done before, and his lack of experience becomes evident when he burns his hand while ironing a shirt.
Throughout the course of the episode, Angel struggles to keep up his facade, navigating a world where the stakes are high and the risks of exposure are even higher. He's constantly torn between maintaining his masquerade and the need to protect his client from harm.
Meanwhile, back at the Angel Investigations office, Cordelia and Wesley go on a stakeout to try and discover who is sending threatening letters to a client of theirs. However, things don't go quite according to plan, and they end up getting more than they bargained for.
"Guise Will Be Guise" is a classic episode of Angel that highlights the show's ability to balance humor and drama with ease. It's a fun and entertaining episode that also manages to further the season's overarching storyline. It's a must-watch for fans of the show and an excellent example of what makes Angel such a beloved series.
