Andi Mack is an American family comedy-drama television series that premiered on the Disney Channel on April 7, 2017. The show revolves around Andi Mack, a 13-year-old girl who discovers that her older sister Bex is actually her biological mother, and her life changes forever.
In the first episode of the second season, titled "Hey, Who Wants Pizza?", Andi and her friends are excited to start a new school year at Jefferson Middle School. Andi is also dealing with her crush on Jonah Beck, but she's not sure if he feels the same way about her.
Meanwhile, Cyrus and Buffy are also navigating the ups and downs of middle school. Cyrus is discovering his own identity and trying to come out as gay to his friends, while Buffy is focused on her basketball dreams and adjusting to the changes in her family.
Throughout the episode, Andi and her friends gather at Andi's house to celebrate the return to school with pizza. However, their plans are interrupted when Andi's grandmother Bubbe arrives unexpectedly from New York. Bubbe is a strict traditionalist who disapproves of Andi's unconventional family situation and tries to impose her own values on the family.
As Andi and her friends try to enjoy their pizza party, they quickly find themselves caught in the middle of tensions between Bubbe and the rest of Andi's family. Bubbe disapproves of Andi's mother Celia's job at a Chinese restaurant and sees Bex as an unfit mother due to her past mistakes.
Despite the tension in the room, Andi tries to remind her family that they are a loving and supportive family that can overcome any obstacle. She uses her creativity to bring everyone together and lighten the mood with a game of Mad Libs.
As the episode comes to a close, Andi is left to confront her feelings for Jonah and wonders if they will ever be more than just friends. Cyrus decides to come out to his best friend Buffy, who is supportive and promises to be there for him no matter what. And Bubbe, after a heart-to-heart with Andi, starts to see the value in letting go of her traditional views and embracing her modern family.
Overall, "Hey, Who Wants Pizza?" sets the stage for a new season of Andi Mack filled with heartwarming moments, important life lessons, and a closer look at the unique challenges of growing up in a non-traditional family.
