In season 4 episode 10 of American Restoration, titled "Sand Hassle," viewers are taken on a journey with Rick Dale and his team at the Las Vegas-based restoration shop, where they work to restore various unique items to their former glory.
The episode begins with a young couple bringing in a classic 1940s milk delivery truck. The vehicle has an interesting history since it was initially used in a milk delivery service in Maine and later found its way to Rhode Island, where it was repurposed to serve as a mobile library before the couple ultimately acquired the truck in Las Vegas. The truck, however, has seen better days and needs extensive restoration work done to it. Rick and his team take on the task and set about restoring the vehicle, ensuring that it looks and runs like new.
The team then moves on to restore a gas pump from the 1940s that was used to pump gasoline for the local farmers in Arizona. The pump is in poor condition, with rust, dents, and missing parts. However, with their skill and expertise, Rick and his team are able to bring the gas pump back to its original condition.
Later, a customer brings in an old sand sifter that has been in their family for generations. The customer is not quite sure what this unique contraption is or what it was used for, but they believe it is an antique and want it restored for decorative purposes. The team takes on the challenge and discovers that the sand sifter was used to refine sand that was used to create molds for metal casting. They restore the sifter, making it a stunning piece of history that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Next, a customer brings in an old metal advertising sign for the popular restaurant chain Fatburger. The sign was used in the 1950s and has been weathered over time, with rust and missing paint. The challenge for the restoration team is to bring it back to its original condition, ensuring that the sign looks like it did when it was brand new.
Finally, a local resident brings in an old jukebox that has been sitting in his garage for more than 20 years. The jukebox is from the 1960s and needs substantial restoration work, including the replacement of missing parts, new wiring, and cleaning. The team sets about restoring the jukebox to its former glory, ensuring that it plays music just like it did decades ago.
Throughout the episode of American Restoration, viewers get a glimpse of the challenging and fascinating world of restoration. From classic vehicles to antique mechanical items, the team at Rick's Restoration work tirelessly to bring old items back to life, ensuring that their unique history is preserved for generations to come. "Sand Hassle" is just one of the many episodes of American Restoration that showcase this amazing work.
