In season 21 episode 12 of American Pickers titled "Big Tex," seasoned pickers Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz hit the road once more to search for hidden treasures among everyday objects. In this episode, the duo travels to Texas, where they hope to find unique items to add to their extensive collections.
Mike and Frank's first stop is a Texas ranch where the pair meets up with Pickin' Perry, an old friend who has treasure troves of items to pick through. Perry shows them his personal museum, a massive 54,000 square foot warehouse filled with rare and unique artifacts.
The pickers quickly get to work exploring the seemingly endless rows of antiques and collectibles. Among the prized possessions they encounter are a massive metal cow and a vintage shooting gallery.
After leaving Pickin' Perry's museum, Mike and Frank visit a local collector named James who has an impressive selection of petroliana and advertising signs. James shows off his vast collection of neon signs, including a large Texas-shaped one, which the pickers marvel at.
The guys then head to Carol's home, where they come across an enormous assortment of vintage cars and motorcycles. While Carol's extensive collection is something that would make an auto enthusiast go weak in the knees, Mike and Frank are focused on a one-of-a-kind Big Tex statue gracing her yard.
From Carol's home, the duo moves on to a former Army base turned salvage yard, where they discover a unique car part and reminisce about their younger days. They also find a vintage tin sign that impresses them.
The pair then heads out to explore a nearby ranch, which is owned by a former oil industry worker. Here, they come across some vintage oil cans and a unique Coke machine.
Finally, in a small town nearby, Mike and Frank encounter a former Navy veteran named Jim, who has a vast collection of antique cars and a unique sense of humor. Jim's quirky personality and vast collection make for a fun and memorable pick.
Throughout the episode, Mike and Frank manage to unearth some truly unique and rare finds, including vintage cars, neon signs, and antique vending machines. Viewers get to witness the pickers' unique bond and talents at finding hidden treasures amidst everyday clutter.
