In American Pickers Season 13, episode 8, titled "Red Barn, Black Keys," the two hosts, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, embark on yet another adventure to search for unique and valuable items hidden in the countryside of America.
The episode begins with the duo driving through the lush green pastures of Kentucky, where they come across a beautiful red barn on the side of the road. They decide to investigate and find an impressive collection of antique instruments, including a rare American Fiddle and a guitar that belonged to blues legend Mississippi Fred McDowell.
As the pair continues to explore the barn, they discover a large collection of vintage toys and tin signs. Frank becomes especially interested in an old toy car that he remembers playing with as a child. Meanwhile, Mike is drawn to a set of vintage license plates that he knows are worth a pretty penny.
The next stop on their journey takes them to a homestead where they meet a quirky collector who has a passion for all things vintage and nostalgic. As they wander through his property, they stumble upon an old-school arcade completely filled with vintage video games and pinball machines. They also find an impressive collection of old country music memorabilia.
At another stop, our hosts visit a collector who has amassed an incredible collection of antique guns and ammo. Frank gets to live out his cowboy fantasies as he tries out some of the guns for himself. Mike, on the other hand, becomes mesmerized by the sheer number of items in this person's collection.
However, not every stop on their journey yields great results. At one point, the duo visits a collector who has promised them a treasure trove of valuable items, but upon arrival, they find that the collection is not as impressive as they had hoped.
As they continue their search throughout Kentucky, Mike and Frank come across a unique antique store that has an incredibly rare and valuable item - a one-of-a-kind piano from the 1800s that was once owned by a well-known Kentucky family. The asking price is steep, but Mike and Frank know that this unique piece is something special.
Throughout the episode, Mike and Frank showcase their keen eye for valuable antiques and their ability to haggle and negotiate with sellers to obtain the best deal possible. The episode also highlights the beautiful countryside of Kentucky, with stunning aerial shots and scenes of rolling hills and lush greenery.
In the end, "Red Barn, Black Keys" is a must-watch episode of American Pickers, as Mike and Frank continue to explore the hidden gems scattered throughout America's rural countryside.
