Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz have been scouring the country for hidden treasures since 2010 on their hit show American Pickers and in season 11 episode 13, titled "Sweet Homes Alabama," they head to the Yellowhammer State to see what unique items they can find.
Their first stop is in Athens, where they meet a retired auctioneer with an impressive collection of vintage signage from the 1800s to the early 1900s. The guys are in awe of his 1875 Coca-Cola sign, which is in near-perfect condition. The owner is reluctant to part with it, but after some bargaining, Frank and Mike finally make a deal. They also stumble upon a rare Millennial Fire Extinguisher and a Crestone Oil sign in this first stop.
Next up is an antique store in Centre, where Mike and Frank find themselves surrounded by a massive collection of items. They are in the market for vintage motorcycle parts and end up making a great purchase on a rare Indian Chief sidecar. They also get their hands on a Civil War surgeon's kit and some rare Coke machine parts.
In Birmingham, Mike and Frank visit a family-owned welding shop that also serves as a storage unit for several generations of family heirlooms. The guys are impressed with the collection of metal toys and early 1900s advertising pieces they come across. They also find a one-of-a-kind Aladdin Oil lamp that they're able to strike a deal on.
Later in the episode, Mike and Frank visit an upholstery shop in Jasper, where they discover a hoarder's paradise. They have to literally squeeze their way through narrow pathways, with towering piles of belongings surrounding them on both sides. Amidst the chaos, they spot a rare Hamm's beer sign and a vintage motorcycle chassis.
Their last stop is in Tuscaloosa, where the guys meet a collector who is trying to downsize his extensive inventory of items. They are intrigued by his collection of funeral home items, including a hearse that the owner built himself. The guys also come across some unique Civil War relics and vintage license plates.
Throughout the episode, Mike and Frank show their expertise in identifying valuable items and negotiating fair prices. They also learn some interesting history about the different places they visit and the items they discover. At each stop, the owners are passionate about their collections and it's clear that they trust Mike and Frank to take care of their treasures.
