American Odyssey is a political thriller TV series based on a military conspiracy surrounding a private military corporation and a major US corporation. Season 1 episode 5, entitled "Beat Feet," the protagonists of the show - Odelle Ballard, Peter Decker, and Harrison Walters - continue to chase the person or entity responsible for the cover-up of the Al-Fayeed school incident in Mali.
In this episode, the three main characters; Ballard, Decker, and Walters, make significant advancements in their respective investigations. Odelle, who was recently freed from captivity in North Africa, strives to reunite with her son who is trying to move on from the trauma of her disappearance; however, she is met with challenges in her quest to locate him. At the same time, she tries to communicate with her runners in North Africa to uncover the truth about what happened in Mali.
Meanwhile, Decker, a former U.S. attorney, is still on the trail of Societel Mining's potentially illegal activities. The company, which has ties to one of America's top politicians, senator Green, has been accused of illegal mining activities in Mali. Given the situation, Decker has been cautious and careful not to give away too much information to his superiors, but he knows that he must bring the company to justice, so he is willing to take risks to do so.
Harrison Walters, a political strategist, is also dealing with the fallout from the crisis in Mali. He has been maneuvering behind the scenes to ensure that his employer, the powerful American DC Business Group, can weather the storm. His investigation into the events surrounding Mali's school attack reveals the involvement of a shadowy figure who seems to want to keep the incident concealed.
As the three main storylines progress, viewers are also introduced to some new characters who add both intrigue and danger to the unfolding events. One of these characters is Aslam, a young man from Mali who works as a pimp in America. Despite his criminal activities, Aslam has a conscience, and his sense of right and wrong is put to the test when he becomes an unwitting witness to something that could put him in grave danger.
Another character is Frank Majors, the CEO of Societel Mining. Frank is both charming and ruthless, and he isn't afraid to use his position of power to get what he wants. He's a master manipulator, and his actions could make or break the protagonists that are investigating his company's activities.
