Ep 4. Devil's Night

On the fourth episode of American Horror Story season 5, titled "Devil's Night," the guest list at the Hotel Cortez expands to include some of the most notorious murderers in history. As the night of October 30th, known as Devil's Night, approaches, James March (played by Evan Peters) invites his favorite serial killers to a dinner party at the hotel.

First, March welcomes John Wayne Gacy (John Carroll Lynch) to the hotel, who immediately presents himself as jovial and friendly. However, it quickly becomes apparent that there is something disturbingly dark beneath the surface of Gacy's cheerful demeanor. When Richard Ramirez, the "Night Stalker" (Anthony Ruivivar) arrives, tensions rise between the guests.

Meanwhile, Detective John Lowe (Wes Bentley) is investigating a new case involving a family whose daughter went missing near the hotel. Lowe begins to suspect that the hotel may be connected to the disappearance and tries to take a closer look, but is met with resistance from the hotel staff.

Elsewhere in the hotel, we see the Countess (Lady Gaga) with her newest love interest, the male model-turned-vampire, Tristan (Finn Wittrock). The two are bonding over their shared love of blood and violence, but the Countess is still trying to keep her distance emotionally.

As the dinner party continues, tensions escalate and secrets are revealed. The serial killers begin to turn on each other and it becomes clear that there may be one among them who is not who they seem. The night ends with a shocking twist that sets the stage for the rest of the season.

"Devil's Night" is a chilling episode that pays homage to some of the most infamous murderers in history. The combination of real-life horror with the supernatural elements of American Horror Story makes for a truly unsettling experience. The performances from the cast, particularly Evan Peters as James March and John Carroll Lynch as John Wayne Gacy, are standout. The episode also sets up several intriguing plotlines for the rest of the season, including John Lowe's investigation and the growing relationship between the Countess and Tristan.
