In season 1, episode 13, titled "The Long Weekend," Jake is excited for a long weekend to finally have some time off from his duties as the American Dragon. However, things quickly take a turn when Jake's dragon sense goes off, alerting him to the presence of a dark magical force in the city.
Jake and his friends, Trixie and Spud, investigate and find themselves face to face with the notorious magical thief, Hans Rotwood. Meanwhile, Jake's family is dealing with their own drama. His younger sister, Haley, wants to impress a boy she likes and decides to use the amulet to become popular. However, her wishes soon spiral out of control, and she finds herself in over her head.
As the weekend progresses, Jake struggles to stop Rotwood and keep his family out of danger. He faces tough decisions and learns that being the American Dragon means putting others before himself, even when it means sacrificing his own desires.
