In the second episode of American Dad's third season titled "Meter Made," Stan is laid off from work after his boss discovers he falsified his meter maid qualifications. As a result, he decides to take on the job of being a real meter maid in order to avoid telling his wife and family the truth about his job loss. Meanwhile, Roger takes on a new persona as a bar owner, while Steve tries to impress a girl from school by pretending to be a millionaire.
The episode opens with Stan attending a ceremony where he is about to be awarded a medal for his services as a meter maid. As he starts to speak about the honor he feels, he is interrupted by his boss, who proceeds to fire him in front of the crowd. Stan is devastated at the loss of his job, but instead of telling his family the truth, he decides to keep up the facade of being a meter maid. He goes out on patrol, issuing tickets to cars left and right and getting into several altercations in the process.
Meanwhile, Roger has taken on the persona of a bar owner named Raz in order to impress his crush, Hayley's best friend. He decorates the living room as a bar and wears a fake mustache, but his scheme is foiled when the girl brings her boyfriend over to meet Roger. The two guys end up getting into a fight, with Roger getting the upper hand thanks to his infamous "alien" strength.
Steve is also going through his own troubles, as he tries to impress a girl from school named Debbie with his wealthy lifestyle. He lies to her about having a rich father who owns a mansion, but his plans are foiled when they end up having dinner at his actual house. His embarrassing family and tiny apartment ruin his chances with Debbie, and he ends up confessing the truth to her.
Back at the meter maids office, Stan's boss finds out about his false qualifications and threatens to expose him to the public. Stan covers his tracks by framing his boss for stealing quarters from the parking meters, which leads to his arrest. The episode ends with Stan and his family watching his boss get hauled off to prison, all while Stan basks in the glory of his successful scheme.
Overall, "Meter Made" is a classic episode of American Dad that showcases the show's unique sense of humor and quirky characters. Through their various schemes and lies, the Smith family comes together to support each other and confront their own vulnerabilities. Fans of the show will enjoy this hilarious and heartwarming episode.
