When Roger, the alien living with the Smith family, introduces them to his friend A.T., they are shocked to discover that he is physically abusive towards Roger. Despite their reservations, Roger and the Smiths still agree to help A.T. retrieve his spaceship from Area 51 before the government can study it. However, A.T.'s abusive behavior towards Roger only escalates as they work together to retrieve the ship.
Meanwhile, Steve becomes obsessed with a video game and neglects his responsibilities as a hall monitor at his school. When he finally realizes the error of his ways, he enlists his friends to help him catch a prankster on campus.
Back with Roger and the Smiths, tensions continue to rise as they face numerous obstacles in their mission to retrieve A.T.'s spaceship. As A.T.'s abuse towards Roger becomes more extreme, the Smiths start to question whether or not they should continue helping him. But as their loyalty to Roger and their distaste for the government's interference in their lives intensifies, they forge ahead with the mission.
In the end, the Smiths and A.T. are able to retrieve the spaceship and save Roger's life from A.T.'s abuse. However, they are still left grappling with the moral dilemmas of assisting an abusive alien and questioning the ethics of government intervention in their daily lives. As the episode draws to a close, the Smiths are left to wonder what other surprises the universe has in store for them.
