Ep 45. Fishing Family vs. Horse Racing Fans

In this episode of America Says, two families battle it out to see who can guess the most popular responses to various survey questions. The Fishing Family, consisting of a father, mother, and two children, are avid fishermen who love to spend their weekends on the lake. They are up against the Horse Racing Fans, a group of three friends who enjoy going to the track and placing bets on their favorite horses.

Host John Michael Higgins welcomes both teams and explains the rules of the game. Each round consists of a category and a letter, and the teams have to race to come up with as many words or phrases as they can that fit the category and start with the given letter. The points for each round are based on the number of responses that appear on the survey, with bonus points awarded if a team gets all the top answers.

The first category is "Things People Do When They're Bored" and the letter is "S." The Fishing Family starts off strong with "Scroll through social media" and "Sleep," but the Horse Racing Fans take the lead with "Surf the internet," "Sigh," and "Stare at the wall." They get all five of the top answers and earn a bonus 1,000 points.

The next category is "Famous People Named John" and the letter is "B." Both teams struggle a bit with this one, but the Fishing Family manages to come up with "John Bon Jovi" and "John Belushi," while the Horse Racing Fans score with "John Boehner" and "John Boyega." Neither team gets all the top answers, but the Horse Racing Fans hold onto their lead.

As the game continues, the categories become more specific, such as "Types of Fish" and "Things Found in a Horse Stall." Both teams rack up points with their extensive knowledge of their respective hobbies, but it's still anyone's game.

The final category is "Ways to Cook Chicken" and the letter is "G." The Fishing Family starts off strong with "Grilled," "Glazed," and "Garlic," but the Horse Racing Fans catch up quickly with "Gravy," "Gumbo," and "Green curry." It all comes down to the final answer, and the Fishing Family pulls through with "Gyros" to win the round and the game.

In the end, both teams put up a good fight, but it was the Fishing Family who came out on top. They celebrate with hugs and high-fives while the Horse Racing Fans graciously congratulate them on their win. It's clear that regardless of who won, both teams had a great time playing the game and showing off their knowledge.
