  • December 13, 2019

In the 112th episode of America Says, two teams, Music Makers and Boogie Bunch, go head-to-head in a test of their knowledge of popular music. Hosted by John Michael Higgins, the show tasks the teams with guessing the most popular answers to a variety of music-related survey questions.

The Music Makers team is made up of four friends who all work in the music industry. They are confident in their ability to identify popular songs, artists, and genres. The Boogie Bunch team is a family team made up of a mother, father, and their two adult children. They too are music lovers, with a shared passion for disco.

In the first round, each team is given a category and asked to come up with as many answers as they can in 30 seconds. The category is "Songs with a Color in the Title." The Music Makers team quickly comes up with "Purple Rain" and "Yellow Submarine," while the Boogie Bunch team offers up "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Black Magic Woman." The Music Makers team wins the round, scoring 200 points to the Boogie Bunch's 100.

In the second round, the teams are given a survey question and must guess the most popular responses from a group of 100 people. The question is "Name an Instrument That Produces a High-Pitched Sound." The Music Makers are quick to guess "flute" and "piccolo," while the Boogie Bunch guess "trumpet" and "saxophone." In the end, the Boogie Bunch win the round with their top answer of "violin."

The third round is a bit tougher, as the teams must come up with the word or phrase that completes a popular lyric. The Music Makers are given the lyric "I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited..." and quickly guess the completing phrase of "but I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it." The Boogie Bunch are given the lyric "I remember when rock was young, me and Susie had so much fun..." and guess the completing phrase of "holding hands and skimming stones." The Music Makers win the round, tying up the score at 400 points each.

In the final round, the teams are asked to guess the most popular answers to a series of survey questions. The questions all relate to different musical genres, such as "Name a Pop Singer," "Name a Classic Rock Band," and "Name a Country Singer." The Music Makers dominated this round, scoring a total of 1,200 points and securing their place in the bonus round.

In the bonus round, the Music Makers are given a final question with three clues. They must guess the answer based on the clues and have 15 seconds to do so. The clues are "Album," "1976," and "Bohemian Rhapsody." The Music Makers correctly guess the answer of "Queen" and win the grand prize of $15,000.

Overall, Music Makers vs. Boogie Bunch was a fun and exciting episode of America Says that tested the teams' knowledge of popular music. With John Michael Higgins as the host and plenty of fast-paced action, the episode will keep viewers entertained from start to finish. Whether you're a music buff or just enjoy good game shows, this episode is definitely worth checking out.
