Ep 3. Welcome to Birmingham

Satirical drama fans, this is the episode you've been waiting for! Episode three takes us to the city of Birmingham, Alabama, where Rondell (Brely Evans) and Evan (Brian White) are about to launch their new restaurant, Thelma's Place. But getting the place from the construction site to a full-fledged business proves to be a bigger challenge than they thought when Rondell discovers that their white contractor has billed them for work that was never done. Between that and Evan's desire to impress his wealthy in-laws by putting on a grand opening gala, the pressure is on for the duo.

Meanwhile, Senior Lancaster (Gino Anthony Pesi) tries to insinuate himself further into Stephanie's (Robin Givens) life, offering to help her with her mayoral campaign despite the fact that he's the son of one of her biggest political rivals. Naturally, Stephanie is just a touch suspicious of Senior's motives, but the chemistry between them is undeniable; are we looking at a future political power couple here?

Across town, Amara (Essence Atkins) is still trying to figure out how to deal with her husband, the philandering Mayor Trevor (Kendrick Cross). She's even gone so far as to start sleeping in a separate bedroom from him, and despite their history as childhood sweethearts, the strain is starting to show. When Trevor shows up at the hospital where Amara works with a bouquet of flowers (the better to woo her with, my dear), she rebuffs him, reminding him that he needs to make some major changes if he wants to save their marriage.

And of course, there's the simmering tension between Stephanie and Amara, who were childhood friends until a betrayal on Stephanie's part tore them apart. When Stephanie learns that Amara has been linked with her brother, it sets off all sorts of alarms for her, and she goes to great lengths to try and discover exactly what's going on between them.

Ambitions episode three is full of soapy, juicy drama, with plenty of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. Will Rondell and Evan manage to overcome the obstacles in their path and make their restaurant a success? Will Stephanie and Senior Lancaster be able to stay away from each other despite their obvious attraction? Will Amara finally pull the plug on her marriage, or will Trevor manage to win her back?
