In "That's Sooo Rob," the ninth episode of All Hail King Julien's second season, we see the return of one of the show's recurring characters: Rob, the endangered aye-aye lemur who works as a scientist. Rob (voiced by Andy Richter) is always working on some new invention or experiment, but he isn't always successful.
In this episode, Rob has created a machine that can shrink objects down to a tiny size. King Julien (voiced by Danny Jacobs) is immediately excited about the possibilities--he wants to use the machine to shrink his enemies and put them in jars. But when Rob demonstrates the machine, things don't go quite as planned. Instead of shrinking objects, the machine accidentally teleports them to another location. Rob is devastated. His invention doesn't work the way he intended, and he's worried about what his boss, the zookeeper, will think.
Meanwhile, Julien is determined to use the machine for its intended purpose--shrinking his enemies. He enlists the help of Maurice (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson) and Ted (voiced by Jeff Bennett) to catch a nearby gecko and test out the machine on it. But when they try to use the machine, the gecko escapes and ends up in the hands of the fossa, the lemurs' mortal enemies.
Julien's plan backfires in a big way. The fossa use the gecko to infiltrate the lemur kingdom and start wreaking havoc. King Julien realizes that he made a mistake in trying to use Rob's invention for violence and revenge. He's forced to team up with Rob to fix the machine and save their kingdom.
Throughout the episode, the characters learn important lessons about the dangers of revenge and the importance of good intentions. Rob realizes that he shouldn't be so hard on himself for his inventions not working perfectly; sometimes mistakes lead to new discoveries. Julien learns that it's not worth risking the safety of his friends and kingdom for the sake of revenge.
"That's Sooo Rob" is a fun and action-packed episode of All Hail King Julien that showcases the show's unique blend of comedy, adventure, and heart. Fans of the series will enjoy seeing the return of Rob and the creative ways the characters use his teleportation machine (even if it doesn't work quite the way they intended). Overall, this episode is a satisfying installment in the series that delivers on both humor and heart.
