In season 1 episode 11 of the hit sitcom Alf, titled "On the Road Again," the Tanner family decides to go on a road trip to visit some family and friends in Phoenix, Arizona. But things don't quite go as planned when Alf accidentally causes their station wagon to break down just outside of Barstow, California.
The family is stranded in the middle of nowhere with no way of getting to Phoenix or fixing their car. To make matters worse, Alf's insatiable appetite causes them to run out of food and the only nearby diner is closed for the night. However, the Tanners soon find themselves befriending a group of truckers who offer to help them out.
Meanwhile, back at the Tanner's home, their nosy neighbor, Mrs. Ochmonek, becomes suspicious when she realizes that the family isn't at home and Alf is nowhere to be found. She decides to conduct a little investigation of her own and ends up snooping around the Tanner's house, looking for clues as to their whereabouts.
As the night progresses, the Tanners end up sharing stories and bonding with their newfound trucker friends, who turn out to be a pretty colorful bunch. They even get a chance to ride in one of the big rigs and see what life on the road is really like. However, all good things must come to an end, and the Tanners must eventually say goodbye to their new friends and figure out a way to get their car fixed so they can resume their road trip.
In the end, the Tanners make it to Phoenix in one piece, albeit a little worse for wear. They have a great time catching up with their loved ones and enjoying the warm Arizona weather. However, Mrs. Ochmonek's meddling ways end up causing a bit of drama back home, leaving the family to deal with the aftermath of her snooping.
Overall, "On the Road Again" is a classic episode of Alf that showcases the show's unique blend of humor and heart. It's a fun and lighthearted adventure that ultimately reminds us that sometimes the most unexpected detours can lead us to some pretty amazing places.
